Blog it blog it nice and hard...

Hi world,

Well today was a home day for Mason and I, we where cashless and car less and I was struggling to entertain myself let alone my little best mate. Mason suggested that we make a pottery spinning wheel out of the washing machine and toaster to make play dough cups to have tea in but when I couldn't find a screw driver we had to re think out day.

Being the total Hubbard I am at this time of the fortnight my cupboard was looking like a supermodels bowel and lacked anything of substance but I did have the makings of food so all is good and Mason and I decided on making biscuits with sprinkle tops.

We threw together a recipe which worked out pretty well and it was so easy so I thought I would share.

Coconut Yum Yums (Mason named them)

Pre heat oven at 180 deg cel

1 1/2 cups of self raising flour

1 cup of castor sugar

1 cup coconut

1/2 butter or nuttlex

1/2 of sprinkles for dipping

Let the kids mix it all together not in any order and let them get their hands into it.

Roll into 50c coin size ball and dip on side in sprinkles and place sprinkles up on a baking tray covered in baking paper, they need a bit of growing room so don't crowd them too much. Then put them in the oven for 10 Min's, when they are done take the out of the oven and let them cool a little on the tray then slid them off the paper.

They are soooo easy and fast that you could easily knock them up on the spot if you had too and you can add what ever you want on top to change them and they would be great for kids parties too!

Blog me baby one more time...

Hi world,

Well it has been a nice slow weekend for us thus far, Mason and I almost went brain dead with boredom yesterday whilst waiting around for Jye to finally finish fixing his damn car, just when we think it's finished another "problem" crops up. Personally I think he has a serious case of passion fingers and is enjoying spending one day a week tinkering around with the bloody thing which is fine except lets just get it done to register it again shall we.

I had a small cake order for Saturday which was a very exciting one because it was for a lady turning 100! Now that is an achievement, I really don't know if I want to live for that long but I'm glad I was able to do something to contribute to this special ladies birthday in some way.
It was another soy cake and this time I cooked it a little slower then normal and boy did it make a difference, the texture was a lot better this time because it didn't crumble as much when I capped it.

On another note! I am very excited to announce that me being the social retard that I am is going out on Friday night to have some dinner with my girls and then hit a pub (I think I remember what they are) to see a band... I know don't say it.... WTF Trudy is going out on a weekend, at night!!!

OK smart arses I know it's shocking but I am totally looking forward to going out and being an adult, so much so that I even know what I will be wearing and I still have a week to go, LOSER I hear you all call and you are probably right but hey this loser is going to have a good time.

Then if that isn't excitement enough I am heading to my beloved IKEA on Sunday to spend my birthday money (and some extra SHHHH) and finally get some stuff I have wanted for a while. Oh but wait, it's also the weekend of Fish head's birthday so there was talk of heading out with the kids and family on Saturday to a nice kid friendly park and maybe even dinner of Saturday night but let's not get too excited (catches breath) and lets try too deal with one exciting event at a time.

P.S YAY!

If you want my bloggy & you think I'm sexy....

Afternoon world!

Today as predicted I had crumpets, I did over cook them so I didn't really enjoy them but ate them all the same. Whilst cooking said crumpets I took some time to scratch my head and think about what the hell I want to talk about here and came to a conclusion, go with what I know and write about me and my life.

Let's start with June because well it is June and it makes the most sense. This month is a very exciting time for my little family with Mason and I having our birthdays 1 day apart, it also means it's a great time to catch up with extended family we don't get to see as often as we would like and take some time to sit and talk over a good meal and a few drinks. At the end of the month we have my sisters birthday and for the purpose of this blog she shall from now and forever be refereed too as fish head, she knows why. ;)

I took Mason's 4th birthday really hard, it felt like I had lost my first and possibly only baby forever and god it was hard to face but I knew it was a very exciting and special time for him so I did my best to suck it up and pretend I was excited as him. We had a big party with all of Mason's most important and loved friends as well as his much loved cousins and aunties and uncles. He chose a Wall-e themed party and we had a jumping castle in the back yard as an attempt to entertain 18 children under 10. I am happy to report the party was a huge success and Mason had the time of his life opening all his gifts and showing his friends where he lives and sleeps (even if it was in an old dishwasher box on his bed, LONG story).

With any good birthday comes pressie and I am happy to report both Mason and I where very very spoilt. I got money to spend at my beloved Ikea and Mason got more clothes and toys then I care to remember (or pack away) but we are very appreciative for all of them and they are all being well loved and used.

This is Mason's cake that I made for him, all the kids really loved it, there was just enough for all the kids to have a cupcake and the adults to have a slice of the top cake.

It was a hard one to make though I had 4 kids at the party who couldn't have dairy and 1 who couldn't have soy.... arrrrh!

So the cup cakes are all made on soy and the cake is broken up into two levels. On the inside the top level was a blue butter cake with NO soy and the bottom was yellow Soy butter cake.

It was worth taking the time to cater for all the kids needs because it's such a shame to see one little person who has to miss out. I didn't get to try a cup cake but word on the grape vine was that the soy cake was more moist and actually nicer then the dairy butter cake! Go Figure!

The jumping castle the was the best idea I think I have ever had, seriously it was the best way to entertain that many children under 10 for 4 hrs and they all had fun no matter what their ages. I want to give a huge shout out to Adam Jackson of Newcastle Party Castles for supplying the castle and making it fit in my yard and still leaving enough room for the kids to have a play on the grass.

We played a few party games like pass the parcel and musical statues and once again all the ages seemed to get involved, except Mason that is... he much preferred to watch the games because I couldn't guarantee him that he would win LOL so he said he didn't want to play.
So as the day came to an exhausting but happy end Mason got to spend some much loved one on one time with his cousins who live in Sydney. For Mason that pretty much topped the day off and made it the wonderful day he still talks about over and over and he is already making plans for what he thinks he might do next year, I say lets get Christmas over with first!

Oh I forgot the add that the weather was perfect too! Two years ago we had floods but this year there was nothing but warm sunshine! (and cold breeze)
So between then and now feels like forever and the hip pocket is still suffering the hangover but I have to say it was well worth it and we will do it again next year.
Well the weather has turned back to the bleak wetness reminiscent of June and I'm starting to wish the spring would arrive early so I can start my veggie patch and get the gardens going again, (I really need to develop my green thumb a little), I would love to start the outside Reno's but we really need to finish the inside ones first. I think I might start focusing on painting now hmmm now what colours do I choose?

Watch me blog myself....

Hi world, or small amount of people who have this link. I have been inspired to start a blog and publish some of my inner most feelings about the important issues like “what should I have for breakfast?” and be informed on the life changing events I survive through each day like “hey check out my new shoes!”
